OUR MISSION

Every pet should be spoken for.

At Cotl, we’re creating a world in which every pet’s needs, wellbeing, and individual life are taken seriously.

A world where animals are not treated as interchangeable, left out of important decisions, or dependent on someone simply “figuring it out.”

A world where every pet is seen as someone, not something.

Pet's depend on us every day.

Pets live in a world built and controlled by people. They can’t choose their vet, explain what frightens them, object when something feels wrong, or make plans for what happens when their circumstances change.

They depend on us to pay attention.

They depend on us to understand what they communicate, represent what they need, protect their wellbeing, and take responsibility for the life placed in our care.

Every pet is someone, not something

Every animal has an experience of the world that is entirely their own.

They form relationships. They develop preferences. They seek comfort, avoid what scares them, communicate in ways the people closest to them learn to recognize, and build a life around what feels familiar and safe.

Those things are not incidental to their care. They are part of who the animal is.

We believe every pet deserves to be treated as an individual whose needs, comfort, relationships, and quality of life matter.

Pets don’t depend on one person alone

We know our pets better than anyone else. But we depend on others to help us give our pets the best life possible. For walks, vet appointments, trips, illnesses, emergencies, or changes throughout the pet’s life.

Speaking for a pet means the people they depend on understand that they are caring for an individual, not completing a list of tasks. It means someone is prepared to notice what matters, ask better questions, advocate when something is wrong, and protect the life the pet already knows.

This responsibility belongs to all of us

Pet parents advocate for their pet’s needs. Caregivers listen, ask questions, and respect the animal in front of them. Vets consider the whole animal, including what doesn’t show up on a health record. Families and friends make sure a pet is never forgotten.

And at Cotl, we build with pet wellbeing in mind, not just human convenience or money.

What we’re doing to help speak for pets

We help people protect and communicate what matters about the pets who depend on them.

We also create space for real stories about pets and the people who care for them. We listen to pet parents and caregivers. We seek relationships with people and organizations already trusted with animals’ lives.

We use our voice to reinforce a simple belief: a pet’s needs, identity, and wellbeing should never be treated as an afterthought.
